Carole Repensek

Although Carole still considers her native New York her “forever” home, she has lived in her much beloved Miami most of her adult life.   She began her career in dyslexia almost by accident.  Graduating with a BS in Elementary Education at a time when there were no jobs available, she was offered a job and training in a school for children with dyslexia.  She immediately developed a passion for teaching reading to students with reading differences and embarked on a lifelong journey which continues today.

In Miami, she joined the staff of McGlannan School and became the Assistant Director spending almost 30 years there.  In 2008, Dr. Repensek moved to Scheck Hillel Community School where she developed the Nativ program for students with dyslexia.  She also taught graduate classes in reading and dyslexia at Touro College.  Presently, Carole is the Director of Academic Advancement at Riviera Preparatory School.

Carole has been a board member, Vice President for Programming and President of the AISF board for almost thirty years.  In addition, she has been President of the Florida International Dyslexia Association and has also held national positions in that organization.  Education has clearly been Carole’s life work and joy.
